What you'll learn

The course will equip you with a range of tools, top tips and tried-and-tested strategies to help you to begin these conversations and to respond helpfully and appropriately to whatever the children bring to the conversations. This will include the opportunity to practise some of the speaking and listening skills required to initiate difficult conversations and to hold a space for children to share their concerns, fears and questions.

Having practised these skills, you will also have a chance to explore your own responses to these difficult topics to increase your awareness of your own emotional triggers, as well as some strategies for staying regulated when you feel triggered.
