Course Outcomes

Thrive Licensed Practitioner training empowers you to actively develop the emotional wellbeing and resilience of the young people you work with. Successful completion of this course leads to Thrive Adolescence Licensed Practitioner status.

You’ll learn how to equip young people with vital social and emotional skills that will help them to effectively cope with stress, overcome adversity, and build their confidence and self-esteem. You’ll explore how to help pupils better understand and manage their emotions, so they can bounce back from challenges rather than becoming overwhelmed (which can lead to shut down or explosive behaviour). This also has a positive impact on attendance, learning outcomes and staff wellbeing.

Thrive Licensed Practitioner training will give you:

  • The tools to identify young people with under-developed social and emotional skills
  • Practical strategies to help form strong relationships and provide positive experiences that shape behaviour
  • The knowledge to work with pupils whose social and emotional development has been interrupted, to build their skills and strengthen their stress regulation systems
  • A calm, motivated group of young people who are ready to engage with life and learning

What’s included in the training and how is it delivered?

  • 3 months’ live, interactive online training with experienced Thrive experts
  • Individual feedback and support to complete the course
  • E-learning modules full of additional theory, videos, resources and opportunities to connect with other delegates
  • Mentoring on your case loads by Thrive specialists
  • Advice, guidance and clear steps to take with young people who are causing you concern
  • A 100-page Thrive Delegate Reference Manual to keep and refer back to after your course
  • Access to networks of Thrive Licensed Practitioners to share best practice with and gain advice

Who is it for?

Please note: Prices are for courses starting on or after 1 September 2024. Price also includes Thrive membership, professional licensing on successful completion of the course, plus two CPD webinars in your first year.

“As a member of SLT, I wanted to change the ethos of the school to a trauma informed approach. We’ve embedded Thrive as a whole school approach so all our pupils benefit which has led to reduced behavioural incidents and improved attendance.”

“I find the neuroscience side of Thrive fascinating and enjoy helping young people understand how their brains work. A young person I work with had very low confidence and self-esteem, now they’re unrecognisable – confident, social and excited about the future.”

Specific requirements:

This is a practical, hands-on course that gives you tools and techniques to put into action along the way. For you to be able to apply the skills you learn, and to be professionally licensed, you will need to be working with young people over a period of time. Evidence of this is needed to become qualified. Full attendance is also required to gain Licensed status.

Face-to-face training: For settings that would like to commission a face-to-face training session, there is a flat rate charge of £470 per trainer per day (or part thereof) plus VAT.

Wise Investment Guarantee: If a Licensed Practitioner leaves a setting within 12 months of starting their course, we'll train another member of staff for free within 12 months of the original start date.

Thrive-Online: This course includes a free 3-month trial of Thrive-Online, our award-winning assessment, action-planning and progress-monitoring tool.

Retaining your licence: If you wish to retain your Thrive Licensed Practitioner status beyond year one, you will need to be connected to a setting with a Thrive-Online subscription and complete two CPD courses per annum.
