Before you start reading, please bear in mind that choosing an apprenticeship is a significant commitment. Apprenticeships go above and beyond our traditional three-month Thrive Licensed Practitioner training, leading to a dual qualification. If your goal is simply to become a Thrive Licensed Practitioner, and you’re not interested in the full scope of an apprenticeship, then our standalone Thrive Licensed Practitioner training will be a better fit. You can find more about both options below.
For children and young people, learning the social and emotional skills that underpin good mental health is vital to them engaging with learning and reaching their full potential. Thrive Licensed Practitioners play a key role in supporting pupils’ social and emotional development and ensuring they have these crucial skills.
What is a Thrive Licensed Practitioner?
A Thrive Licensed Practitioner is a professional trained to use the Thrive Approach to support the social and emotional development needs of children and young people.
Thrive Practitioners are trained to assess, develop and track pupils’ social and emotional skills and work closely with children who are struggling to engage in the classroom. They have a deep understanding of the science behind emotional development and its impact on behaviour and learning. Plus, they are experts in building positive relationships that make young people feel safe, special and supported.
Beyond their 1:1 and small group work, Thrive Practitioners are also equipped to lead and implement a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing. Their work can have a transformative impact on attendance, behaviour, attainment and staff wellbeing, making them invaluable members of the school community.
