Course outcomes

This 3-hour training will give you the understanding and skills you need to handle difficult conversations at work with more confidence and ease.

Educators encounter a number of difficult situations throughout the school day and need to be confident in handling interactions with parents and carers, as well as colleagues. This ensures that schools maintain positive relationships with families and provide a genuinely happy work environment for staff.

Whether you’re a senior leader having to address poor performance, or a teacher discussing sensitive topics, this course is suitable for anyone working in an educational setting across all phases.

The training provides an opportunity to find out what makes an effective conversation, explore the dynamics of difficult conversations, and learn new strategies for managing your own and other’s emotional responses.

You’ll learn some practical techniques for giving constructive feedback and enhancing your self-awareness – skills that are essential for dealing with tough conversations with grace and effectiveness.

Plus, you’ll discover practical ways to implement the Education Endowment Foundation's recommendations for effective professional development and working with parents to support children’s learning.

This course includes a 30-day free trial of Thrive-Online, our award-winning assessment, action-planning and progress-monitoring tool.
